Mission
The Parish Disaster Committee will strive to attain and maintain an acceptable level of preparedness as to respond effectively in the event of major disasters or emergencies. The organization will endeavor to use all the available resources which will include equipment, man power, technology and natural resources at its disposal, from both private and public sectors, so as to minimize loss of lives and alleviate suffering
Responsibility
The Committee is responsible for ensuring that Portlanders are prepared to cope with possible disasters. Resulting from this, as our history of confrontations, action and reaction and with disasters has fostered a unique kinship within the Parish Development Committee.
Committee
It is resolved in accordance with section 96 (2) of the Parish Council’s Act that the Portland Parish Mitigation, Planning and Disaster Management Committee is appointed and exercised in the name of the Council.
